23rd Annual Camp Gordon Johnston Reunion Days Parade

23rd Annual Camp Gordon Johnston Reunion Days Parade

Presented by Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum at Downtown Carrabelle

The Annual Camp Gordon Johnston Reunion Days were established to celebrate historic wartime Carrabelle and the service of our veterans from WWII to present. All veterans and their family, friends, and supporters are invited to Carrabelle from Friday, March 9, 2018 through Saturday Evening, March 10, 2018.

On Friday, March 9, at 6 pm, the Camp Gordon Johnston American Legion Post 82 located in Lanark Village will host a low country boil. Legion members, WWII veterans, non-WWII veterans (with proof of service) and active duty troops only are invited to attend this event. Each veteran / member may also bring one guest.

On Saturday, March 10, at precisely 10:45 A.M., the parade will head east on U.S. Highway 98 from the foot of the bridge to Tallahassee St. Participating in the parade festivities will be: WWII vehicles and modern military equipment; antique cars, beauty queens; color guards; civic and community groups; Shriners; and motorcycle riders. The Military Vehicle Preservation Association, First Florida Chapter, will be bringing their restored vintage military vehicles to participate in the parade. Afterwards they will be on display in downtown Carrabelle for an up close and personal look.  If you'd like to participate in the parade, register online at https://www.campgordonjohnston.com or call David Butler at: (850) 247-3890 or Jim Newton at (260) 341-7291.

Saturday evening the festivities culminate with a very special event - the Camp Gordon Johnston Reunion Dinner Dance - at 6 pm at the Franklin County Senior Center in Carrabelle.  Have dinner with actual WWII heroes as well as veterans from more recent times! The cost is just $10 for advance tickets or $15 at the door and includes a retro 1940’s “homefront” meal and entertainment.  BYOB. Advance ticket purchase is recommended due to limited seating and can be purchased at the Senior Center, 201 NW Ave F, Carrabelle. Doors open at 6pm. Dinner will be served at 7pm. For more information, call 850-697-3760.

The Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum will be open to all visitors in its current location, 1001 Gray Avenue, Carrabelle on Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm. Guests are encouraged to come and hear the amazing stories of the region’s WWII heroes and see the remarkable collection of WWII artifacts and memorabilia while still on display throughout this 7,000 square foot museum. Come see the museum one last time before we move to our new facility.
