Join us for a Read Aloud story and a free hands on art activity to learn about Floridingers! We will read a children’s picture book story about a Floridinger adventure as they float down the lazy river on their way to SwampFest.
Floridingers are hybrid creations made up of three florida species combined together to make a new character. All of the Floridingers are unique and have special skills and abilities that help them work together to solve problems and wage peace in their adventures along the way. This children's picture book series teaches acceptance, diversity and a willingness to cooperate with others. In the first book "Floridingers go to SwampFest" we introduce the characters as they meet each other floating on a log down the lazy river and by the time they reach SwampFest they have become friends and decide to see the world together to learn about new people, places and things. After the story, we offer a hands on blacklight art activity for families and friends to create their own Floridingers using picture books and a Floridinger worksheet. Everyone is encouraged to think of special skills and abilities for their own Floridinger characters. The original panels that created the Floridinger picture book series are displayed under blacklight for inspiration.
