Come support local writers by attending 621 Salon on Thursday, February 22nd, from 7-8 p.m. This month, we're excited to showcase Mia S. Willis, Luis Eduardo, Andrew Trostle, and Jesus Rios.
Refreshments will be available for a small donation.

Mia is a 22 year old artist and adventurer. She represented East Carolina University as a competing poet at the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational during all four years of her undergraduate career. Mia was also a member of Fayetteville, North Carolina’s The Marquis Slam, a PSi collective which ranked in the top 20 teams in the nation at the 2017 National Poetry Slam.
Mia released a visual album of poetry on YouTube, entitled “Sage and Petrichor,” in September of 2017. The project is a video compilation of dance choreography, spoken poetry, and footage of Mia’s travel experiences as a performer. When she is not onstage, Mia is a full-time Master of Arts student in the Department of Classics at The Florida State University.

Luis Eduardo is an experimental poet/jazz musician currently living in Tallahassee.

Andrew Trostle writes short stories that range from spiritual self-discovery to satirical dystopia. He has an MA in English from the University of Cincinnati, and he’s currently working on an MS in Occupational Therapy at Florida A&M. He’s been writing since he was nineteen, and he studied creative writing as an undergraduate at both the University of Central Florida and Florida State.

Jesus Rios was born in Caracas, Venezuela and has spent most of his life in the Republic of Panama. He moved to Tallahassee to study Psychology at FSU, and will be reading from his novel. It follows the story of a group of orphans in a dystopic future that seek to form a special assault unit to fight back a foreign conquerors and regain independence.

The 621 Salon is a space for writers at every stage of their journey to gather, share, and connect. We aim to foster community and encourage risk-taking and vulnerability. Whether you have never shared your work with an audience or you’ve published multiple acclaimed works, you are welcome here. The 621 Salon is hosted by 621 Gallery in Railroad Square on the third Thursday of every month. We are always looking for new writers and audience members to strengthen Tallahassee’s writing community.
