Guest Artist Recital - Kazuhiro Nakamura, tuba

Presented by Florida State University College of Music at Longmire Recital Hall - Florida State University

The FSU College of Music presents Kazuhiro Nakamura, tuba, on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in Longmire Recital Hall. Works for the evening include compositions for tuba and piano by Alexander Arutiunian, Michael Forbes, Edward Elgar, Gregory Carroll, and more. This recital is free and open to the public.

 

ABOUT THE ARTIST
A native of Kyoto, Japan, Kazuhiro Nakamura received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Osaka College of Music. He completed his college studies with Shigeo Takesada, principal tubist of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra with additional studies with Gene Pokorny, Robert Tucci, Daniel Perantoni, David Fedderly, Roger Rocco, Markus Hötzel, Alessandro Fossi, Kyle Turner, Toby Hanks, Alan Baer, and Roger Bobo.

In 2001, Mr. Nakamura received the 1st prize in the brass division of the Great Wall International Music Competition hosted by the Chinese Music Association. He performs as an extra tubist with numerous organizations including the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, the Kyoto International Music Festival Orchestra, the Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, the Izumi Sinfonietta, and the Osaka Municipal Symphonic Band, among others. Mr. Nakamura has been a guest artist at every International Tuba & Euphonium Conference since 2010. He has also performed at Tubamania 2013 (Bangkok) and NERTEC 2013 and 2015 (Ithaca College). He has given masterclasses at the Peabody Institute, Gettysburg College, and the Mozarteum University.
