An original full-length play, by Bev DeMello, appearing March 16-25 in The Studio Theatre at Theatre Tallahassee. (Curtain time: 8 p.m . on Fridays/Saturdays; 2 p.m. on Sundays)
Prisoners of Hope highlights the friendship of Trace and Sunny, beginning in a Texas college and continuing up to their present lives, some 20 years later--as the two experience life-altering events. Daughters of Southern Baptist preachers who led mega-churches, both struggle with faith.
Sunny, who's become Sister Sunny, is traveling with her Power of U Ministry, believing she can heal people, including her crippled daughter--16-year-old Casey. Sunny visits Trace in Florida and tries to use her healing powers. Trace doesn't believe in Sister Sunny, and wants no part of her charade. They match wits and ultimately discover why hope is a double-edged sword.
Suggested Donation: $5 at the door (Students Free); all proceeds go to Theatre Tallahassee.
