A concert by the string ensemble, Fermata, presenting a concert suite composed by Dean Charles “Charlie” Engstrom titled “Waiting in the Museum”.
Engstrom is well known as a composer of music for films including Ulee’s Gold, A Flash of Green, Ruby in Paradise, Gal Young 'Un and other films directed by Victor Nunez. He is also known as the resonator guitar player of “Antique Blues” in the talented duo Belmont and Jones. The suite was written during a time when Charlie was studying Celtic dance music and was involved with the Tallahassee Friends of Old Time Dance.
The ensemble, "Fermata", has been assembled by Michael Callan to perform the suite as a concert piece that he has arranged for this ensemble.
The players are:
Michael Callan - violin; Jim Crozier - bass; Yvonne Gsteiger - hammered dulcimer; Carrie Hamby - percussion; Steve Hodges - guitar; Valarie Howington - piano; and Andrea Stanley - violin.
Howard Pardue will be your host and MC for the premere performance on February 4, 2018, 4pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2810 Meridian Road, Tallahassee.
