An Evening in Mayberry with Rodney Dillard aka ‘The Darlins’ & The Walker Brothers Tuesday, January 9 @ 8:00 pmFrom Rodney Dillard’s Press Release:

“Fans of The Andy Griffith Show don’t have to “miss Mayberry” any longer! The Bradfordville Blues Club will be bringing a little slice of Mayberry to Tallahassee on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, beginning at 8:00 p.m., with Rodney Dillard and the Walker Brothers.

As fans of The Andy Griffith Show will remember, Rodney Dillard was featured in several episodes, along with his bandThe Dillards, also known as “The Darlin Boys.”
Rodney Dillard has a long and varied career resulting so far in two Grammy Nominations, induction into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, a well-known acting stint on The Andy Griffith Show, many other movies and TV appearances, recipient of The Outstanding Missourian Award, and worldwide acclaim for his over 50 years of recording both traditional Bluegrass and his own brand of ‘Dillardgrass’.

He is the founding member of the legendary group, “The Dillards,” which can be seen and heard nearly every day somewhere in the world thanks to the still enormous popularity of The Andy Griffith Show reruns.

Dillard continued to modernize and innovate the sound of Bluegrass as he wrote and collaborated to write such now-classic songs as “There Is a Time”, “The Darlin Boys”, “Ebo Walker” and “Dooley.”
By the late 1960′s, Dillard had transformed The Dillards into the driving force creating new sounds in the West Coast music environment. Later, called “The Father of Country Rock”,he was among the first Bluegrass musicians to “electrify” traditional Bluegrass instruments while also adding drums, steel guitar, and orchestra.
The band’s unique flair for songwriting and arrangement affected a broad range of important future musicians in the Bluegrass and Pop music world alike. Dillard is credited with helping set the stage for the “Country Rock” movement and burgeoning progressive sounds of Bluegrass.

Albums such as “Wheatstraw Suites” and “Copperfields” remain legendary paradigm shifters and influenced many musicians who are now household names. Groups and performers as diverse as The Byrds, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Eagles, Elton John and Ricky Skaggs have all expressed appreciation for what Dillard has accomplished musically.
A prolific multi-talented artist he has continued applying his innovation by producing albums for many artists as well as TV and radio commercials and has received many national awards for these. He is a frequent guest on various radio and television programs and has toured worldwide for 50 great years.

Sharing the stage with Rodney Dillard on Jan. 9, The Walker Brothers are some of the most exciting young players on the scene today. They have played several national television specials on ABC, CBS, and Good Morning America, performing with Keith Urban (CBS), and then with Earl Scruggs, Ricky Skaggs, Kix Brooks (ABC).

Cory and Jarrod Walkerhave played the Grand Ole Opry dozens of times, as Cory and Jarrod Walker as well as with many other acts individually including the Claire Lynch Band, Mountain Heart, Sierra Hull, and Ricky Skaggs. They have also worked with some of the very best in music, including Joe Diffie, Ron Block Band (of Alison Krauss and Union Station), the Rodney Dillard Band (of the iconic Dillard Family), Claire Lynch, Missy Raines, Billy Strings, Ricky Skaggs and Sierra Hull among many others.
