Beginning Tapestry Weaving

Beginning Tapestry Weaving

Presented by LeMoyne Arts at LeMoyne Education Annex

Tapestry is a weaving technique in which the warp is completely covered by the weft, using the simplest weave structure, plain weave. Image making rather than cloth making is the focus in tapestry weaving. This class will cover basic tapestry weaving skills on a simple frame loom. Looms and all materials will be supplied by the instructor. Students will complete one sampler piece, with the possibility of a second piece in a design of the student’s choosing. Basic concepts covered will be warps and wefts, tools, shape making, and basic designing for tapestry weaving.
