A Christmas Carol: A Musical Play

December 16, 2017

Celebrate the warmth of the holidays with Ebenezer Scrooge, the Cratchit Family, and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future at The School of Theatre at Florida State’s 11th Annual Benefit Concert. Based upon Charles Dicken’s timeless tale, A Christmas Carol, this beloved story follows Ebenezer Scrooge through a life-changing journey as he discovers the errors of his cantankerous ways and the true meaning of the holiday season. The concert is a one night engagement on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 7:30 pm in the Fallon Theatre.

Lester Malizia’s A Christmas Carol: A Musical Play premiered at Seaside Music Theatre in 1991 where FSU College of Music’s own, Professor Gayle Seaton, originated the role of Belle. This year’s Benefit Concert features School of Theatre students Michael Bradley (Scrooge), Collin Phillips (Cratchit), Alec Ruiz (Ghost of Christmas Past), Brad Betros (Ghost of Christmas Present), and Jeanne Schwenck (Belle). Alum Jay Jaski (B.M. Music Theatre ‘97) returns to FSU to direct this special adaptation of A Christmas Carol. He is joined by Gayle Seaton (Music Direction), Carrie Barton (Lighting Design), and Zach Cramer (Sound Design).

The School of Theatre has a reputation for delivering nationally recognized work and has a rich history of fostering talented artists who go on to make an indelible impact on the performing arts world. Proceeds from the Benefit Concert support our students and programs that continue to enhance the School of Theatre’s position as one of the country’s top theatre training programs. In the spirit of this special time of year, we invite you to be part of something extraordinary. It is guaranteed to be a talent-filled evening you will not want to miss.
