A traditional service of nine readings from Scripture interspersed with choral anthems and congregational carols.
The first service of Lessons and Carols was held in 1918 at Kings College, Cambridge, England. In this traditional service of nine lessons from Scripture, interspersed with choral anthems and congregational carols, the St. Peter’s Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Choirmaster and Organist Chris Garven, will be accompanied by harp, brass choir and organ in works by Rutter, MacMillan, Gjeilo and more. There will be a guest appearance by Andrew Bailey, a fabulous young cellist, who is new to Tallahassee. The service begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, ends in candlelight, and will be followed by a reception with delicious food including traditional English Sticky Toffee Pudding! The event is free and open to the public; a freewill offering will be taken. Arrive early for seating and prelude.
