Capulets & Montagues: Public Reading of the Spanish Answer to Shakespeare

Capulets & Montagues: Public Reading of the Spanish Answer to Shakespeare

Presented by Theater with a Mission and Goodwood Museum & Gardens at Goodwood Museum and Gardens

What happens if Romeo falls in love with Juliet in Spain?

What happens if Juliet is smart enough to defuse the feud between their families?

What happens if Shakespeare’s tragedy – great theater, but a bad recipe for life – gets transformed into a model for resolving deadly conflict?

What happens if Romeo & Juliet … don’t die?

Come find out, as Theater with a Mission hosts a public reading of Capulets & Montagues (c. 1609) by Lope de Vega, Spain’s answer to William Shakespeare. The translation is in rhymed English verse by Dakin Matthews, a famous actor from Broadway, television, and the Shakespeare circuit.

Your input will help Theater with a Mission make plans to put this play onstage. Feast on a great art, make some new theater friends, and snack on some ham. Kindly RSVP to bengunter@theaterwithamission.com
