Matsiko is a Ugandan word for “hope”. This word embodies both the children and the songs that they sing. Through the Matsiko World Orphan Choir, thousands of children will be reached with the hope of a brighter future.
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee has a tradition of hosting musical ensembles. This year we are grateful to host the Matsiko World Orphan Choir on October 14th and 15th. There will be a free concert (donations encouraged) Saturday, October 14th at 7:00 pm. The choir will be leading the service with our youth the next day; followed by a church wide International Potluck. This event is not to be missed!
The Matsiko World Orphan Choir is a part of the International Children's Network. The mission of International Children's Network is to provide as many of our world's 600 million orphaned and at-risk children sponsorship for a complete education through their nation's highest university or vocational levels. By doing so, every child will be on equal footing with their nation's most privileged children. They will return to their villages to help other children who are in the same condition they once were in order to break the cycle of utter dependency and despair and replace it with empowerment and hope!
