COCA Conversations 2016: Grant Writing

Grant Writing with a panel discussion featuring Dr. Kevin Carr, COCA and Sarah Stage, Florida Division of cultural Affairs

This workshop will discuss the grant writing process and what grant panelists look for in grant applications. Grant funding is crucial to the existence of non-profit arts organizations. Mastering the grant writing process can really help to cement the success of an organization.

Speaker Bios:

Kevin manages all aspects of COCA's Cultural Grant Program. He also provides operational support including business related to the COCA Board of Directors, as well as records management. Originally from Boston, he worked as House Manager for the Huntington Theater Company and the Artistic Operations Coordinator for the Boston Ballet. Since moving to Tallahassee in 2006, he has become very involved in the local theater community. He is an actor, director, and acting coach who regularly teaches acting workshops in the area. Kevin is also the founder of Canopy Roads Theater Company. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Monticello Opera House, where he briefly served as Executive Director. He is currently helping to organize all of the educational programs for the Southern Shakespeare Festival. Kevin is also an adjunct faculty member at Tallahassee Community College. He completed his PhD at Florida State University in 2013.

Sarah has been with Cultural Affairs since 2002. Originally from Iowa, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Kansas City Art Institute and a Master of Fine Art and Museum Studies Certificate from Florida State University. Prior to joining the Division, Sarah served as Traveling Exhibits Coordinator at the Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee, and has taught art. Sarah is also an oil painter and avid sailor.
