The Nacirema Society by Pearl Cleage

Presented by FAMU Essential Theatre at Charles Winter Wood Theatre

Since Emancipation, the Nacirema Society of Montgomery, Alabama has introduced an exclusive group of debutantes at their annual cotillion. This year, at its 100th anniversary, Grace Dunbar, pillar of the city’s African-American aristocrats and doyenne of the organization, proudly presents her granddaughter.  Grace, on the other hand, is presented with a perfectly plotted blackmail story that she will do anything to suppress, in Cleage’s light-hearted comedy.
