We’re honored to be continuing our successful Story Slam series featuring the best of local talent – come out and be proud of what Tallahassee has to offer!
Midtown Reader is now hosting a Story Slam on the first Thursday of each month from 6:00-7:00 pm. This will be our fifth Story Slam after attendance and submissions have rapidly grown!
We’re thrilled to have Sean Towey, FSU creative writing Ph.D. candidate, emceeing our Story Slams and helping select our writers/readers each month. Sean has work published or forthcoming in the minnesota review, Hobart, Word Riot, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. He was a semi-finalist for the St. Lawrence Book Award at Black Lawrence Press and was the recipient of an Emerging Writer Award chosen by Debra Monroe. He serves as the online editor for the Southeast Review and hosts a podcast on writing at FSU with Colleen Mayo. Sean grew up in Tacoma, and he currently lives in Tallahassee with his wife Erin.
The theme for this month is "School" - we encourage our authors to get creative in their interpretations!
