Hero Beethoven

Hero Beethoven

Presented by Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall - Florida State University

This all-Beethoven concert presents music from what is referred to as Beethoven's "heroic period," and these three grand works certainly demonstrate the confidence, command, and increasingly unique voice of the gutsy composer. Beethoven wrote only one opera in his lifetime - Leonore, later renamed Fidelio - and this version of the overture is a dramatic and powerful distillation of the opera's story. The magisterial "Emperor" concerto, brilliant and elegant, will be performed to perfection by the esteemed pianist Stewart Goodyear. The composer's Eighth Symphony is an optimistic and buoyant offering at a time of great personal despair, assuring you'll depart the concert hall with a spring in your step!
