Movie Night @ The Museum

Movie Night @ The Museum

Presented by Florida Historic Capitol Museum at Florida Historic Capitol Museum

Join us Friday, Aug. 25 for a fun-filled jaunt around Chicago with Ferris, Cameron, and Slone. The film will be shown outside in the Capitol Courtyard, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Picnic baskets are welcome and complimentary sodas and popcorn will be provided. The movie will begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.), but come early to secure your seat, play a little cornhole, and enjoy all that the Florida Historic Capitol Museum has to offer. The Museum will be open from 6:30 p.m. and visitors are encouraged to check out the temporary exhibit, Clothes Lines: Florida Political T-shirts. The exhibit closes on Sunday.

As a special bonus, Museum members will enjoy complementary hot dogs and sausages before the film. To get in on the action, visit the Museum’s website and become a member. Not only will you feel like Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago at Movie Night,  you’ll get lots of great member benefits throughout the year.

Whether you saw the movie when it came out, or only know of it from cultural references or commercials (a current Domino’s Pizza ad is an homage to the film, and Matthew Broderick reprised his starring role in a 2012 Super Bowl Commercial for Honda) you won’t want to miss the chance to see this teen classic on the big screen. The film was a box-office success at the time and was the 10th highest-grossing film of 1986. It has gone on to become a cult favorite, and in 2014 it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, which recognizes movies for being \"culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.\"
