The eclipse is right around the corner! We’ll discuss the significance of this solar event and best ways to experience it.
Ken Kopczynski, the Sky Guy, is the President of the Tallahassee Astronomical Society (TAS). TAS is a volunteer club of likeminded individuals who are interested in astronomy and like to share that interest. TAS holds a monthly free planetarium show at the Downtown Digital Dome and Theatre every first Saturday. They also hold frequent public events. You can access the TAS events calendar at our webpage: www.stargazers.org.
On August 16, due to the imminent total solar eclipse on August 21, we'll learn about the solar eclipse and discuss best (and safe) ways to view it; then we'll see what's going on in the night sky through some high powered telescopes out in the back yard.
The inside presentation should last about 30 minutes beginning at 8:30 pm. We’ll view the night sky thereafter for as long as folks are interested.
