The Museum of Florida History and Quilters Unlimited of Tallahassee are proud to present the 35th Annual Capital City Quilt Show. The 2017 show, Sentimental Journey, opens August 4 and continues through September 24. This annual exhibit features more than 50 hand-crafted and machine-made contemporary quilts, ranging from small wall hangings to bed quilts.
Educational activities offered during the show include the 2nd Saturday Family Program on August 12. Quilts in the show are also available for viewing on the Museum’s Pinterest page, which can be found at pinterest.com/museumflhistory.
Each year the show highlights the Opportunity Quilt, which is designed and constructed by members of the guild. The 2017 Opportunity Quilt is titled Sentimental Journey and is a nine patch pattern with an appliqued floral border. By making a small contribution to Quilters Unlimited, visitors can qualify for a chance to win the opportunity quilt. Visitors may also bid on beautiful quilted items in a silent auction. Winners will be announced on Sept 24.
The quilts are on display at the Museum of Florida History through September 24. Admission to the show is free, and free parking is available in a garage adjacent to the R. A. Gray Building.
