Our theme this month is "heat". This leaves a lot of room for interpretation (kinetic heat? legal trouble?), so we're excited to see what our creative local writing community comes up with!

WRITERS: Please use the following criteria for all submissions:

*Times New Roman/12 pt font/1”margins/double-spaced
*600 words or less
*Fiction or Nonfiction
*Due the last Thursday of the month (this month's deadline: June 29th)
*If selected, must be available to read the evening of July 6th.
*Name should not appear anywhere on the submission itself.
* Please include a brief cover letter within the email.

Sean Towey, FSU creative writing Ph.D. candidate, will be emceeing our Story Slams and helping select our writers/readers each month. Sean has work published or forthcoming in the minnesota review, Hobart, Word Riot, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. He was a semi-finalist for the St. Lawrence Book Award at Black Lawrence Press and was the recipient of an Emerging Writer Award chosen by Debra Monroe. He serves as the online editor for the Southeast Review and hosts a podcast on writing at FSU with Colleen Mayo. Sean grew up in Tacoma, and he currently lives in Tallahassee with his wife Erin.

We hope to see writers and readers alike come out to this event to support local talent and help the Tallahassee literary scene to grow!
