Literary Night: Poetry Reading by 3 writers

Literary Night: Poetry Reading by 3 writers

Presented by Blue Tavern Tallahassee at Blue Tavern

FSU graduate and one time Tallahassee resident, Sandra M. Castillo will read from her new poetry collection entitled Eating Moors and Christians, published by CavanKerry Press. The new collection explores issues of history and memory by delving into life in post-revolutionary Cuban and exile in Miami.

Christine Poreba's poems appear in various journals and anthologies, including an anthology of poems about motherhood and another of poems for children. Her book, Rough Knowledge, was chosen by poet Peter Everwine for the 2014 Philip Levine Prize. She lives just a few blocks away from here with her husband and teaches English as a Second Language to adults at the main library downtown.

Rick Campbell’s most recent book is The History of Steel: A Selected Works (2014), from All Nations Press. He’s won a Pushcart Prize, an NEA Fellowship in Poetry, and two poetry fellowships from the Florida Arts Council. Campbell was the director of Anhinga Press for twenty years and is a founder and the Director of the Florida Literary Arts Coalition and its Other Words Conference. He teaches English at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida.
