Ballet Magnificat! will be presenting their newest ballet, "Stratagem", inspired by C.S. Lewis’ novel, “The Screwtape Letters.” This ballet depicts the spiritual battle from the villain’s perspective.
Choreographer Tara Thibodeaux Drew says her hope is that "this ballet will give people a glimpse of the unseen reality and strategy that we encounter in our daily lives.”
Wildwood Ballet Company will also be presenting a new chapter of their original story ballet – "The Journey." This concert will benefit Wildwood Ballet’s community outreach initiatives – "Project Plié " and "The Hidden Art Project."
"Project Plié" - Robin Stuyverson, Director of Wildwood Ballet, partners with the American Ballet Theater’s campaign with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. ABT desires to see young people exposed to ballet who would never have the opportunity to attend classes. Misty Copeland, "Project Plié" spokesperson and ABT principal dancer, found her start with the Boys and Girls Club and the rest is history!
"The Hidden Art Project" - Wildwood Ballet is also committed to taking dance to needy women in our community. Since 2014, Robin has facilitated a monthly time of creative movement and reflection through art at Chelsea House, a local transitional home for homeless women. The plan is to expand this outreach to weekday daytime hours.
