Devil's Kin

Devil's Kin

Presented by Blue Tavern Tallahassee at Blue Tavern

Devil’s Kin is comprised of local Tallahassee musicians Sean Christopher Aultman and Sean Christopher Gorman… not quite brothers, but close enough…

Having both played in local Ameriana groups, the two eventually ended up having the opportunity to meld Americana with more electric roots sounds in the Tallahassee band, Me and the Devil. After having the opportunity to play many a great show with this outfit, the two Sean Christopher-mans decided to form a new group ... and thus Devil’s Kin was formed in 2011.

During Devil’s Kin first show the two gentleman found out upon arrival that they had been tasked with building the dressing room for a troupe of local drag queens set to perform immediately after the Sean-ee-boys finished playing… unsure of whether this was a divine sign or simply bad luck the two moved on from there to play more local shows, open-mics, and general hoot-nannies around town.

Eventually Sean and Sean met fiddle player (and old time music sage ☺) Andy Thomas. Andy not only brought to the band his fine fiddlin’ but also several of his own songs as well as his invaluable wealth of experience playing traditional American music – most notably with the band Upsala. Andy taught Devil’s Kin that the difference between a violin and a fiddle is all in the smell… come out to a show and he’ll explain…

Devil’s Kin seek to blend the “back then” with the “here and now” by creating original music steeped in the traditions of American roots music styles. They’re at their happiest sitting on a porch, in a basement, on a stage, or around a fire playing music for other people… or for no one in particular. If you ever happen to find yourself with them at said locations and feel the need to tap your foot, dance, clap your hands, pound the floor, drum on a chair, sing in spontaneous four-part harmony, or even curse and throw tomatoes at them… let it all happen.
