If you have always wanted to travel the globe and sample the different culinary delights along the way, but find a circumnavigation cruise about the QEII a little out of reach, the Tallahassee Civic Chorale’s annual fundraiser “Cooking with the Chorale” is just the ticket. For the sixth year, the Civic Chorale is partnering with the Publix Aprons Cooking School to present a demonstration cooking class and this year’s class is entitled “A Culinary Cruise Around the World.” The class will take place on Thursday, June 1st beginning at 6:30pm in the cooking school’s demonstration kitchen inside the Village Square Publix at 3521 Thomasville Road. Head Chef Levi Newsome and his highly trained staff will be preparing a four course meal with a very international flair.

The meal begins poisson cru, a Polynesian dish of ahi tuna marinated in coconut milk, and is followed by Vetkoek, a South African dish of beef and fried bread. The main course is salmon in herbed butter with Irish colcannon and the meal finishes with Kulfi (an ice cream-like dessert from India) and mangos. The chefs demonstrate the preparation of each course, then serve it to the guests paired with wine selected by the chefs to complement each dish. Printed recipes are also provided so you can test out your new-found culinary knowledge in your own kitchen. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance before May 29th.
