Seventeenth century Dutch painters masterfully rendered sumptuous scenes of tables laid with fine linens and serving ware, overflowing with delicacies. In contrast, Dorthea Lang’s Depression era photographs illustrate the intersection of humanity, hunger, and the American agricultural industry. Whether it’s pop-art soup cans or an impressionistic basket of apples, food related artworks are embedded in our culture.

The Yum exhibition, presented by COCA, celebrates and explores the role that food plays in our lives. This multi-media show is a banquet of 55 artworks, highlighting culinary themes including images of edibles, food preparation, farming practices, cooking and dining scenes, and table settings. A feast for the eyes, the Yum exhibition will provide food for thought and nourishment for the creative soul.

Meet the artists at a public exhibit reception on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the City Hall Art Gallery.  The awards will be announced at 6:30. There is no charge for the reception or the exhibition. COCA thanks the local businesses who donated awards for the Yum winners: Black Fig, The Edison, Kool Beanz Cafe, Lucky's Market, and Nefetari's Fine Cuisine & Spirits.
