The Legacy of Gideon: A Retrospective- Art Opening

The Legacy of Gideon: A Retrospective- Art Opening

Presented by Venvi Art Gallery at Venvi Art Gallery

Paintings and sculpture by Gideon, described as “an artist who borders on being an elemental force,” will be exhibited in the Venvi Gallery from April 7th to May 19th. His extraordinarily wide array of work virtually covered the full range of creative styles, from realistic to abstract, impressionistic to contemporary. Over the years, Gideon developed revolutionary paints and sculpting compounds, and used and employed a technique and form that enabled him to render sculptures and paintings in a unique way. His heavy, thick paint was often a staple signature of his art. Coupled with heavy sculptured frames that Gideon made himself, these classic paintings are highly sought by private collectors. His life experiences, particularly that of guarding SS soldiers and working with victims liberated from the concentration camps, had a profound effect, evident in his superb Gideon Holocaust Collection. The late artist (1924-2010), whose art dominated the Miami scene for over 50 years, moved with an extensive collection of his works to the Thomasville, Georgia, where he continued to paint and sculpt for his remaining years.
