As part of its continuing mission of bringing world-class artists and scholars to Tallahassee, the College of Music’s Wiley & Lucilla Housewright Eminent Scholar Chair in Music plays a vital role in the enrichment of the musical lives of university students and members of the surrounding community. This spring, the College is pleased to welcome internationally renowned pianist and 2017 Housewright Scholar Paul Lewis to Florida State University.

Students will have an opportunity to work up close and in person with this lauded guest during a masterclass on Monday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Ruby Diamond Concert Hall.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Internationally regarded as one of the leading musicians of his generation, Paul Lewiss recent cycles of core piano works by Beethoven and Schubert have received unanimous critical and public acclaim worldwide and consolidated his reputation as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of European classical repertoire. His numerous awards include the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist of the Year, two Edison awards, three Gramophone awards, the Diapason D'or de l'Annee, the Preis Der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, the Premio Internazionale Accademia Musicale Chigiana, and the South Bank Show Classical Music award. Lewis performs regularly as soloist with the world's great orchestras, including the Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, London Symphony, New York Philharmonic, LA Philharmonic, and the Royal Concertgebouw, Tonhalle Zurich, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Philharmonia, and Mahler Chamber Orchestras.

Parking Info

General parking is available in the St. Augustine Garage located on the corner of Pensacola and Copeland Streets, and the Call Street Garage located on corner of Call and Macomb Streets. Accessible parking is available at the North Entrance of Ruby Diamond Concert Hall and along Convocation Way. The accessible entrance drop-off area is located at the north entrance of Ruby Diamond (the roundabout) and may be accessed by Convocation Way. Elevators are available to take patrons to the appropriate floor. Ushers will help direct patrons to the elevators.
