Lunch and Learn at the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum

Lunch and Learn at the Apalachicola Arsenal Museum in Chattahoochee is presented every third Thursday of the month.  On March 16th, The Arsenal will welcome local historian, television producer, author, Dale Cox.  Dale will be sharing his knowledge of the "Confederate Batteries On the Apalachicola River".  The Apalachicola Arsenal was active in providing ammunition to these batteries.  Mr. Cox's presentations are always informative and enjoyable.  Guests are welcome to bring their lunch or order a lunch provided by the award winning Rutabaga CafĂ© for $6.00.  Beverages are provided courtesy of the Museum.  In addition, a local eleven year old from Chattahoochee, JJ Dolan, will be recognized for his continued community support and fundraising for the Gadsden County Humane Society.  In his short life JJ has raised over $13,000 for the Humane Society.  JJ is also the recipient of the Blue Springs DAR Historical Essay Contest.  The Apalachicola Arsenal Museum is located in the newly restored Powder Magazine located on the grounds of Florida State Hospital.  The Powder Magazine is one of only three buildings remaining from the Apalachicola Arsenal built in 1834.  Brick utilized to build the Powder Magazine was made by Benjamin Chaires of the Chaires Community.   The museum will be open after the Lunch and Learn presentation for those interested in touring.  Admission to the event is free however donations are always welcome.  For more information or to order a lunch contact Linda at 850-794-0197 or email lkranert222@gmail.com

Lunch and Learn speakers will end at 1 p.m. however, guests are always welcome after the event to explore the Museum and view the new exhibit presented by the Florida Public Archeology Network.
