Opening Nights Presents Black Violin

Opening Nights Presents Black Violin

Presented by Opening Nights at Florida State University at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall - Florida State University

“Whether strumming and waving their instruments guitar style, crooning, or improvising an entire number, the musicians show a winning ingenuity and spirit of inventiveness.” – New York Post Black Violin is a fantastic blend of classical, hip-hop, rock, R&B, and bluegrass music. Named one of the hottest bands at SXSW in 2013, Black Violin has performed alongside a wide range of performers at a number of lauded venues – including Google’s Zeitgeist Minds Conference, the Billboard Music Awards, the Apollo Theater, and more. Since Black Violin’s inception, Wil Baptiste and Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester have performed in 49 states and in 36 countries, and they’ve appeared at official NFL celebrations for three Super Bowls as well as at the U.S. Open in Forest Hills with Jordin Sparks. Their groundbreaking collaboration has allowed them to play in unique settings – like performing for troops in Iraq and at both of President Obama’s Inaugural Balls, Black Violin has worked with the likes of P. Diddy, Kanye West, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin and The Eagles.
