Anna in the Tropics

Anna in the Tropics

Presented by Monticello Opera House at Monticello Opera House

Tallahassee Hispanic Theater presents
the Pulitzer-Prize winning play Anna in the Tropics
by Nilo Cruz
directed by Kevin Carr

with Classical Guitar and Latin Dance
performances to accompany pre-show dinner.

This play will be performed in English. It highlights a part of Florida Hispanic History by telling the story of a family of Cuban immigrants that owns a cigar factory in Ybor City, Tampa, Florida, in 1929. The play also recounts the tradition of the cigar factory lectors who used to read classic literature to the workers. In this story, the lector's reading of Anna Karenina profoundly impacts the workers and transforms their lives in unimaginable ways.

Pre-show dinner provided by Carrie Ann & Co. featuring Classical guitar and Latin dance from local studios during dinner.

Reservations required for dinner. Dinner reservations close 48 hours prior.
To purchase dinner, choose "Dinner & Show" from the drop down menu after choosing your seat.
