Dr. Reginald Ellis explains how FAMU’s first president was a pioneer on Black Higher Education!
Join us on Thursday, February 23, 2017 for a historical talk by Dr. Reginald Ellis. Dr. Ellis will be presenting a paper entitled "Florida State Norma and Industrial School for Coloreds: Thomas DeSalle Tucker and His Radical Approach to Black Higher Education," and will focus on the founding of Florida A&M University through the lens of its first president.
This event will be held in the INIE training room located on the 3rd floor of the former Mary Brogan Museum (300 W. Pensacola Street, Tallahassee, FL 32301).
There will be a pre-event reception from 5:30-6:00 PM and the historical talk will begin at 6:00 PM. Registration is free & open to the public.
