Contra dance with Whistlin' Rufus and Doug Singleton

Contra dance with Whistlin' Rufus and Doug Singleton

at Tallahassee Senior Center

After too long an absence, the exciting Whistlin' Rufus and Doug Singleton are back from the Atlanta area to play and call for us. Here's some video from a fine visit a few years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSbM-LlmBFA

Come at 7:15 if you would like an introduction or a refresher, or if you would like to help with same.

No special clothes are needed, but do expect to be quite active and to get warm. We recommend against high heels and boots.

We have a lot of fun with traditional and new contra dances, with an occasional square or circle dance thrown in, all danced to live music with English, Scottish, Irish, French and African roots. All dances are taught and then called. They typically start simple and gradually get more complex during the evening.

Come by yourself, with a partner, or with a group. We change partners frequently during the course of the evening.

Please consider bringing your own water bottle to cut down on trash. We have snacks at the break because people like you bring them to share.

Lots of information about our dances and others, and about contra dancing generally, is posted at www.tallydancer.com.
