To Kill A Mockingbird

To Kill A Mockingbird

Presented by Leon Performing Arts at Leon High School

One of the most treasured novels of all time is coming to Broadway for the first time this year, but you can see Leon Theatre's rendition this February! Set in Depression-era Alabama, To Kill a Mockingbird tells the story of the tomboy Scout, her brother Jem, and their friend Dill during one life-changing summer. They discover the true meaning of courage when their father, Atticus Finch, a small-town lawyer, defends Tom Robinson, a black man accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winner is a timeless and timely tale of seeing the humanity of all individuals and the power of taking a personal stand for what is right in the middle of a close community.

Parental Advisory: To Kill a Mockingbird is appropriate for adults and young people ages 13 and up. It is one of the most read and beloved stories of all time. However, consistent with the time period in which the story is set, the play does contain racial slurs, as well as discussions of racial injustice and an alleged sexual assault.
