Contra Dance with Long Forgotten String Band and Rachel Flemmng

Contra Dance with Long Forgotten String Band and Rachel Flemmng

at Tallahassee Senior Center for the Arts

The Long Forgotten String Band is playing the music, and Rachel Flemming is choosing, teaching and calling the dances. We are blessed to have such fine talent right here in our city.

Come at 7:15 if you would like an introduction or a refresher, or if you would like to help with same.

No special clothes are needed, but do expect to be quite active and to get warm. We recommend against high heels and boots.

We have a lot of fun with traditional and new contra dances, with an occasional square or circle dance thrown in, all danced to live music with English, Scottish, Irish, French and African roots. All dances are taught and then called. They typically start simple and gradually get more complex during the evening.

Come by yourself, with a partner, or with a group. We change partners frequently during the course of the evening. All ages welcome, from about 8 years and up.

Please consider bringing your own water bottle to cut down on trash. We have snacks at the break because people like you bring them to share.

Lots of information about our dances and others, and about contra dancing generally, is posted at www.tallydancer.com
