Unity 12: Praise & Redemption - The Power of Song

Unity 12: Praise & Redemption - The Power of Song

Presented by The Tallahassee Community Chorus at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall - Florida State University

Our 29th season continues with two works celebrating the power of music: "Sanctus" from the André Thomas Mass and selections from Sacred Concerts by Duke Ellington.

The Chorus is proud to present the world premiere of “Sanctus” by Artistic Director, Dr. André J. Thomas. The Chorus commissioned this movement of what will become the André Thomas Mass. This song of praise is followed by selections from the Sacred Concerts by Duke Ellington, which combine jazz, elements of dance and African-American spiritual. Composed in the last decade of his life, Ellington called these concerts “the most important thing I’ve ever done.” In addition, there will be a special video performance! There will be much to see and hear at this concert that you won’t want to miss it!
