The Church Music Institute, in association with the Tallahassee Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, will present the Tallahassee Sacred Music Conference from Friday, February 3rd at 1 p.m. to Saturday, February 4th at 12:30 p.m., with sessions at First Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church in downtown Tallahassee. The conference involves workshops and plenary presentations on all aspects of church music, plus a Friday evening Hymn Festival at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian. Presenters will include the Rev. John W. Neely (Keynote Speaker and Hymn Festival Choir Director), David Arcus (Organ Clinician), Robin Arcus (director of the film Sacred Sound, to be screened on Saturday morning), and Charlotte Kroeker (Executive Director of the Church Music Institute, Dallas, Texas). Michael Corzine (Organist and Choirmaster at First Presbyterian) will accompany the Hymn Festival on the historic Taylor and Boody mechanical action organ.

This year’s conference also functions as an AGO January Jubilee, an outreach activity sponsored by the national AGO to nurture those involved in sacred music and to introduce the AGO to those unfamiliar with the organization. Registration for the complete conference is $85 for adults, $45 for students; the Friday evening Hymn Festival at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian is free and open to the public.
