Sophocles’ Antigone- adapted by Bonnie Roberts Performed by Leon Theatre’s Advanced Theatre Class
Performance by Leon High School's Advanced Theatre Class
Adapted by Bonnie Roberts. Based on the play by Sophocles.
A country divided. Voices screaming from every side of the debate. Will actions and reactions bring peace or more discord? This is not just the timeless Greek Tragedy of Antigone, this is our world, our political system, on this very day. In our version The Greek Chorus are not just bystanders but involved entities hoping to influence the outcome. They speak to the audience and directly to the timeless characters of Antigone. There are no heroes and no villains here. There are only individuals who face the choice: should I do what I feel is right? There are also no clear answers here. There is only the reality of anger coming from fear leading to reactions and the idea that perhaps love can bring an action that is greater than fear and anger.
