The BBCO presents "Love and War," Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 3:30 PM. Dr. Shelby Chipman, Conductor; Lisa M. Foltz, Associate Conductor. Featuring our 2016 Young Artist Competition first-place winners in three age categories, in concert with the orchestra: Claire Thaler, violin (Wieniawski: Violin Concerto No. 2, Op. 22, Mvt. I); Filippo Aldrovandi-Reina, violin (Haydn: Violin Concerto in G Major, Mvt. I); and Petra Croom, violin (Vivaldi: Concerto in A minor, RV 356, Mvt. 1). Also featuring Overture to Rienzi, and Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral from Lohengrin by Richard Wagner; Wedding March, Op. 21 by Alexander Glazunov; The Rustic Wedding Symphony (Ländliche Hochzeit), Op. 26 by Karl Goldmark (Mvt. II. Brautlied. Intermezzo, and Mvt. III. Serenade. Scherzo); and An der Schönen blauen Donau by Johann Strauss, Jr. Free admission. Children ages 12 and under will be invited to the stage to get a closer look at the instruments during one work. Silent Auction and free reception in the lobby following the concert.
