Students learn the fundamentals of fabricating jewelry including soldering and stone setting. Most students produce 5 – 7 pieces of jewelry during the session. Course cost does not cover the cost of material
A perfect class for beginners! Our Jewelry/ Silversmithing classes are suitable for ages 16 and older and include scheduled class time with instruction as well as open studio hours for practice, use of studio tools, and equipment.
The Jewelry/ Silversmithing class focuses on basic fabrication skills: sawing, filing, metalworking (forging, hammering, texturing, dapping, and doming) soldering, cold connections, etching, and finishing (burnishing, buffing, polishing, patinating). Instructor provides individual guidance for all levels of experience with special attention to newcomers. Experienced patrons may pursue independent projects with permission from the instructor. The upcoming session offers Jewelry/ Silversmithing classes on Tuesdays 5:30-8:00p.
Course Fee: Course fee includes scheduled class time with instruction as well as open studio hours for practice, use of studio tools, and equipment. Students will be responsible for small purchases during the class (each project is 2-15 dollars). Discounts are given to students, faculty, and staff associated with Florida State University (discounts require FSU ID).

Registration: Registration occurs in person at the Oglesby Union Art Center or by mail with inclusion of appropriate fee. You must be preregistered to attend our classes. Registration is available for until second week of classes pending availability.
Make-up Classes: Make-up classes are not offered for the Jewelry class. The instructor will assist any student who needs to discuss the possibility of missing class.
