THE RED HILLS SCHOOL OF WIZARDRY”

A Halloween Ball for Big Dog Rescue

Grab your books, robes and scarves and take your broom to “The Red Hills School of Wizardry.”  Or known in the vernacular as the 16th Annual Witches’ Ball, featuring Bedhead Betty!  This year’s Ball, sponsored by the Red Hills Pagan Council (RHPC), will be Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the American Legion Hall, 229 Lake Ella Drive, from 8PM to 11:30PM.

Come in your Halloween best, and join your mates in the Houses of Starmount, Westover, Highlands and Ferndale.  Congregate in the Great Hall and dance until the Witching Hour.  Back for a triumphant return, local favorite Bedhead Betty’s very danceable covers may include anything from “old school, new school, and some cheese” to folk, lounge flavors and soul. The evening’s festivities will also include all the fun you’ve come to expect: 50-50 drawing, psychic readers, silent auction and a “clandestine” costume contest – anonymous judges roam the room and hand out prizes to adults and children.  Additional entertainment will be provided by Arabian Flair, a modern belly dance company that provides a variety of artful and sophisticated dance entertainment, from classic Middle Eastern to contemporary belly dance.

Over the years, the RHPC has forged a beneficial alliance with Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization which is dedicated to the rescue of dogs (and cats!) from abuse, abandonment or other dire circumstances, and placing them in caring, adoptive homes.  Continuing this partnership, a portion of the Ball’s proceeds will be donated to support the work of Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue.  Representatives from Big Dog will be on hand at the Ball to answer questions about their program and adoptions.  For more information, go to www.bigdogrescue.com

Light fare will be provided inside the Legion Hall.  For much hungrier Witches and Wizards, Taco Truck Juan will also be onsite.

Doors open at 8PM.  Tickets are $13 at the door; $10 in advance at Athena’s Garden in Railroad Square or Stone Age in the Centre of Tallahassee.  Children under 12 are free!
