Ceramic sculptor Barbara Balzer exhibits her work at TCC; opening reception, Sept. 7, 5 – 7:30
Barbara Balzer is an international award-winning figurative ceramic artist. Daughter of a U.S. Air Force officer, she traveled the world with her family. She attended the University of Iowa, earning both a B.A. and an M.A. in American Literature and European Literature and Thought, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Also, she attended Iowa school of law for her J.D. degree. From Iowa, she traveled to Florida to clerk at the First District Court of Appeal. She then worked as a Staff Attorney in the Florida Senate Committee for Consumer Affairs.
After her son left for college and Barbara had spent twenty years in the legal profession, she turned to art full-time. After earning an M.F.A. in Sculpture at FSU, she started exhibiting both nationally and internationally and her work began winning awards. Barbara has taught art workshops in Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
