Bloomsday Festival

Presented by Irish Repertory Theater at Goodwood Museum and Gardens

The Irish Repertory Theater of Tallahassee's Third Bloomsday Festival will be held at Goodwood Museum and Gardens, Thursday, June 1, Friday, June 2, Sunday, June 4, Thursday, June 15, Friday, June 16, and Sunday, June 18.  You'll be transported back to 1904 Dublin with dancers from Irish Dance Tallahassee and Tallahassee Irish Step Dancers, singers of Irish folk songs, actors in costume performing skits, and a lecture on the influence of James Joyce's Ulysses in Latin America.  You'll be treated to a reenactment of the lives of Goodwood's Irish laundresses who worked there a few years later, employed by Goodwood's owner Fanny Tiers, with a performance by Tiffany Underwood and Robin Jackson of the world premiere of "The Irish Laundresses."  Dr. Camille Vilela-Jones will explain the journey through Dublin that was taken by the novel's central character, Leopold Bloom, and the places in Dublin that are connected to people in "The Irish Laundresses."   Traditional Irish meals, snacks, and beverages will be available for purchase.

Admission Info

Thursday, June 1 and 15, and Friday, June 2 and 16 the Festival will begin at 6pm and end at 9:30pm.  Sunday, June 4 and 18 the Festival will begin at noon and end at 3:30pm.  Tickets are available for advanced purchase at Tallahasseeirishrep.com/tickets or at the door with cash, Venmo, or Paypal.

Additional time info:

If weather is clement, the activities will take place in front of the Carriage House and the Laundry Cottage between 6pm and 8:30pm/noon and 2:30pm.  Irish Step Dancing will conclude the evening in the Carriage House starting at 8:30pm/2:30pm.  If weather is inclement, all activities will take place inside the Carriage House.

The Museum’s main entrance is located off Miccosukee Road, just East of Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. The Museum’s back entrance can be accessed off Surgeons Drive.
