This month, Alice Cappa is visiting Wiregrass Gallery!
Alice Cappa hand weaves natural fiber wearables in lightweight, breathable cotton, integrating a unique expression of color and texture into a traditional craft. A favorite technique is Leno-lace, an open weave that defines imagery as with the flower or marine images in her “SeaShawls.”
Alice spins, dyes, and weaves fleece from her sheep, making natural fiber papers for journals or handbound books. These processes offer presentations for schools, camps, and birthdays, where often a lamb has visited with the students. Special techniques, such as triangle weaving, are taught in itinerant workshops. Alice’s work has been exhibited in juried shows throughout the southeast.
