Join us Friday, June 23rd for a fun community contra dance! Our very own Vicki Morrison and rising caller Kevin Shepherd are teaming up to call the dances and In Cahoots is conspiring to play sensational old-time tunes.
Tallahassee community contra dances have resumed in the Senior Center Ballroom on the 2nd and 4th Fridays most months! Contra dancing is an upbeat, beginner-friendly American folk dance for all ages. It shares many moves with square dancing (such as swing your partner and do-si-do) and is danced in long lines to live music. The bands and callers vary each night. Come alone or bring friends–no partner or experience required. Those new to contra dancing are strongly encouraged to come by 7:15 when a Beginner Lesson will be taught, and as dances are taught in more detail early in the evening. Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes.
Admission cost: $10 for Adults, $9 Seniors over 50, $6 for Students, Free for Kids under 12
Admission is payable by cash, check, or card at the door. Newcomers get in to your 2nd dance free!
