621 Gallery will feature the work of Todd Jones. Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Todd is an artist who pushes the boundaries of painting into sculpture. Todd reformulates discarded and mistint paints into a visual record of cultural history through material transformations by pouring numerous layers to create strata-like forms that mimic natural sedimentation. The new relationship of each color layer is exposed through excavation and creates a cultural snapshot that examines the development of our society through patterns of culture/identity shedding. Process plays a central role in his work as he recontextualizes materials through collection and intervention. Salvaging and molding layers of paint into newfound forms, these stratifications expose remnants and the foundation of their previous lives. “Salting The Dig” is on exhibition from February 3rd – February 23rd, 2023, at 621 Gallery in Railroad Square. An opening reception will occur on the First Friday, February 3rd, from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Current hours at 621 Gallery are Thursday - Sunday, 1 pm - 5 pm.
