Poetry Reading with Craig Beaven and Sandra Simonds

Craig Beaven, author of new release TEACHING THE BABY TO SAY I LOVE YOU, books of poems are Natural History (Gerald Cable Book Award), Teaching English Lit on the Day After a Shooting (Cutbank Chapbook Prize), and Teaching the Baby to Say I Love You (Anhinga Press Poetry Prize, selected by Ellen Bass). Born and raised in Kentucky, Beaven earned an MFA in poetry from Virginia Commonwealth University and a PhD from the University of Houston. He is a recipient of scholarships and fellowships to the Vermont Studio Center, and the Sewanee Writers Conference. His work has appeared in Prairie Schooner, Western Humanities Review, Carolina Quarterly, Hollins Critic, Atlanta Review, Spoon River Poetry Review, the Best New Poets anthology, and many others. He lives in Tallahassee, Florida.

Sandra Simonds, author of TRIPTYCHS, is a poet and critic. She is the author of eight books of poetry: Triptychs (Wave Books, 2022), Atopia (Wesleyan University Press, 2019), Orlando (Wave Books, 2018) and others. Her work has appeared in the New Yorker, The New York Times, Poetry and elsewhere. She is also the author of Assia, a forthcoming novel based on the life of Assia Wevill. She lives in Tallahassee, Florida, and is an associate professor of English at Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia. She is currently a visiting writer at Bennington College in Vermont.
