2022 Winter Festival Youth Art Exhibition

Presented by Council on Culture & Arts (COCA) at City Hall Galleries

The Council on Culture & Arts invites you to the Winter Festival Youth Art Exhibition. Sponsored by the City of Tallahassee as part of the Art in Public Places program, this annual exhibition runs in conjunction with the City’s Winter Festival celebration. This juried exhibition features over 80 2-D and 3-D artworks by K - 12 students from 30 different public, private, and charter schools in the Leon County area. Special thanks to this year’s guest juror, Debi Barrett-Hayes, Mayor John Dailey, and Amanda Karioth Thompson for selecting this year’s awards and to Lofty Pursuits for providing sweet treats to the awarded students!

The works can be seen in person at the City Hall Gallery (open M-F from 8-5) from November 17th, 2022 to January 30th, 2023.

A total of 11 awards are given each year, as below:

About the Juror: Debi Barrett-Hayes, retired Art Education professor from Florida State University Schools has taught visual arts for over four decades and was the 2022 National and 2021 Florida Distinguished Service Award recipient. Debi is a former Disney American Teacher Award recipient, a National Milken Educator, a two-time Christa McAuliife Award recipient and a former Florida District Teacher of the Year. Debi is one of a few selected teachers featured in an upcoming publication “Real Lives 21” to be used in the education of new art teachers. Debi’s studio practice focuses on mixed media painting.
