About Diane:
Diane Roberts is an eighth-generation Floridian, born in Tallahassee, and educated at Florida State University and Oxford University in England where she earned a D. Phil. She taught at Oxford, then at the University of Alabama, but couldn't quit Florida, so she came home to teach at FSU in 2007. Florida's a hot mess but Roberts feels it's her hot mess.
She was a long-time essayist for NPR, a commentator for The BBC, and contributes to the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Oxford American, and the Florida Phoenix. Her books include Dream State: Eight Generations of Swamp Lawyers, Conquistadors, Confederate Daughters, Banana Republicans and Other Florida Wildlife and Tribal: College Football, and the Secret Heart of America.
