Get creative and experimental in this class with artist Joe Roache!
This class is designed for beginning to intermediate students. If you have some background this can be helpful. This class will be directed toward making abstract paintings using acrylic paint and other mixed media. This class will provide hands-on instruction in preparing surfaces, color mixing, glazing, scumbling, and using mediums. We will use a variety of techniques from underpainting and glazing to alla prima, impasto, pouring, and collage techniques. Students in this class will work from still life setups, live portrait models, and photographs. The class will also work on free-form abstraction that may have no representational subject.

This class is held in Studio D2 of the LeMoyne Arts education building.
The LeMoyne Arts education building is located at 417 E. Call Street, with entry and exit to the building through the red Studio A Door facing Call Street through the small courtyard. Parking is available in the spaces surrounding the education building, with overflow parking available at the lower lot of Capital City Bank at the corner of Gadsden and Tennessee.
