Blessing of Animals

Blessing of Animals

Presented by Mission San Luis at Mission San Luis

The Blessing of Animals originated in the 13th century in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, who believed that all animals should be treated with dignity and respect. Mission San Luis carries on this tradition as the site of a 17th-century Franciscan mission.

Pet owners and animal lovers ~ bring your furry, feathered, or other friends to Mission San Luis and enjoy the following:
-- Blessings for Animal Companions (with free certificates & online photos)
-- Living History
-- Animal-Organization Booths
-- Craft activity for kids

Please bring pet food & supply donations for area animal shelters if you are able to.
Animals must be on leashes or in carriers.
Mission San Luis is a pet-friendly site, so bring your leashed animal companions to  enjoy the beautiful park setting year-round!
